Julie Hayashida maintains a diverse practice that emphasizes toxic tort defense, complex insurance coverage defense, and construction litigation. Julie manages most aspects of civil litigation, including:

  • Drafting and arguing pretrial motions and arguments, including summary judgment motions
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Researching, retaining and preparing experts
  • Preparing and implementing discovery plans
  • Pre- and post-trial/mediation briefing

Prior to joining Becherer Kannett & Schweitzer, Julie worked as a legal research attorney for the law and motion department of the San Francisco Superior Court, where she wrote bench memoranda advising the judge on all motions, handled ex parte applications and drafted bench orders.

Julie gives back to the legal community through her pro bono representation of individuals seeking asylum in the United States and through her work as a volunteer judge for the UC Hastings moot court department.

Community Involvement

Julie is an active alumna of her alma mater, Brown University. She presently serves as a Brown Alumni Association class leader and also volunteers as an interviewer of prospective Brown students, both of which keep her closely connected to the university.

Of Personal Note

Outside of the courtroom, Julie can often be found in the pool, competing with her masters women’s water polo team. Julie is also an avid cook, loves Hawaiian music, and enjoys spending time with her husband and family.
